Gary Duke-Cohan heads our Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Department. He acts for people of all ages and backgrounds who have been injured or hurt when it was not their fault. You or your child may have been hurt or injured as a result of an incident or accident which could have happened in a variety of ways. You may have been at work, involved in a road traffic accident, been on holiday abroad, hurt as a result of faulty goods or services or from tripping over in the street.
We also act for clients who have suffered injuries or death caused by bad hospital treatment or medical care (please see our Clinical Negligence section). We can assist in applying for compensation from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (for victims of a crime) or from the Motor Insurers' Bureau for clients who have been injured by uninsured or unidentified drivers.
If you wish to claim compensation from the person or organisation you believe was responsible for your injury, we can advise you as to whether your claim is worth pursuing. When you receive compensation, our Wills and Probate department will if necessary explain Personal Injury Trusts. Please note that there are strict time limits which apply for personal injury claims. Generally there is what is known as a 3-year time limit but specific circumstances may apply. We will fully discuss the funding and costs of your claim.
Areas of personal injury include:
- Accidents at work, in shops and factories
- Animal including attacks by dogs
- Applications to the Motor Insurers' Bureau and to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority
